Precilla Torres is Senior Managing Director and Head of Debt Strategies for Hunt Real Estate Capital (HREC). In this capacity, she provides leadership and management over all non-agency lending products for both balance sheet and managed third-party capital. These investment products include construction, bridge, fixed rate, mezzanine, preferred equity and opportunistic products (e.g. Freddie K “B-pieces”). More specifically, Ms. Torres oversees activities related to the management of these investments, including the origination, screening, underwriting, closing, capital markets, and asset management functions. Additionally, she is responsible for the development of new lending programs to expand HREC’s investment opportunities, as well as innovative capital markets solutions to enhance returns.
Ms. Torres joined Hunt from Ares Management LLC, where she held several positions, including initially as Head of Capital Markets for the CRE Debt Group, and later as a Portfolio Manager and Co-Head of their CMBS platform. During her time as Co-Head of the CMBS Group, she established the business plan for their CMBS platform and was responsible for the direct origination efforts of the team. As Head of CRE Debt Capital Markets, Ms. Torres was involved in the management of Ares Commercial Real Estate Corp, a public mortgage REIT managed by ARES. She led the growth of the group’s capital sources and innovative structured solutions to optimize investment returns. Ms. Torres also developed strategies in relation to the solicitation and execution of separate managed accounts. Earlier in her career, she held various senior leadership positions covering loan and structured product platforms at Citigroup, Lehman Brothers and Credit Suisse. Over her career, which to date spans 28 years, she was engaged in both buy-side and sell-side markets, with functions covering capital markets, originations, commercial real estate credit, product development, capital raising, and distribution, primarily in the U.S. and Asia. Ms. Torres holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering from Ateneo University, a top Philippine university.
