Greg Calvert is a senior managing director, agency chief credit officer (CCO) at ORIX Real Estate Capital (OREC), the combined company of Hunt Real Estate Capital, RED Capital Group and Lancaster Pollard.
Mr. Calvert serves as the CCO for agency lending and most recently was the chief underwriter for Hunt’s Fannie Mae Multifamily Affordable Housing (MAH) and Freddie Mac Targeted Affordable Housing (TAH) Programs, and the head of the Hunt’s affordable multifamily housing credit department, which consists of Hunt Real Estate Capital’s affordable housing underwriting platform and the construction risk group. In his capacity as CCO, he is directly responsible for the division’s credit functions, including credit review/approvals and credit policy. Prior to being named CCO, and before his tenure as head of affordable credit, he oversaw the underwriting platform for all debt and equity investments made by the firm and its subsidiaries. He was responsible for building out the firm’s FHA lending underwriting and credit platforms.
He joined the company as a vice president and underwriter in 1995, specializing in the analysis of affordable and market rate multifamily housing investments. As a chief underwriter, he was responsible for underwriting and real estate analysis of more than $4 billion of low-income housing tax credit equity investments, and more than $2 billion of affordable and market-rate bond-financed multifamily assets. Before joining Hunt’s predecessor company, he was vice president of property management for the Kamson Corporation, where he was responsible for the management of an investment real estate portfolio consisting of multifamily, office and retail properties. He directed that company’s efforts as a third-party receiver for non-performing loans and performed due diligence for the firm’s acquisitions of multifamily assets.
Mr. Calvert earned a Master’s of Science in real estate investment from New York University and a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Cornell University. He is a certified property manager (CPM) and a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the National Association of Realtors.
