James Croft is a senior managing director, mortgage banking services with ORIX Real Estate Capital (OREC), the combined company of RED Capital Group, Hunt Real Estate Capital and Lancaster Pollard.
In his role, Mr. Croft directly manages the firm’s mortgage banking services business, partnering in various ways with other mortgage banking firms, providing loan servicing, warehouse funding and capital, alternate financing options, and MBS distribution through the firm’s sales and trading platform.
He joined ORIX Real Estate Capital’s predecessor entity in 1991 (which became RED Capital Group in 2000) and became president of the investment banking platform, RED Capital Markets, Inc., in 2002. He then served as president of RED Mortgage Capital from 2006 to 2011, then became chief executive officer of RED Capital Markets, Inc., now known as OREC Securities, LLC, where Mr. Croft currently serves as Chairman.
He is regarded as a national expert in the financing of multifamily housing and healthcare projects, including seniors housing and healthcare. He has senior managed over $2 billion of fixed and variable rate multifamily and healthcare bond issues, including new money issues, current refundings, advance refundings, and residual value extraction transactions. He has deep experience structuring affordable and conventional multifamily and seniors mortgage debt, with particular expertise regarding FHA insured mortgage loans, GNMA mortgage-backed securities, and Fannie Mae MBS/DUS loans.
Mr. Croft served on the board of directors for the National Leased Housing Association based in Washington, D.C., and on the board of directors of the Ohio Housing Council, serving as president from 2003 to 2004. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of The Ohio State University’s Center for Real Estate. He graduated from The Ohio State University and is a licensed inactive certified public accountant (CPA). He is also a licensed registered representative and principal (Series 7 and Series 24) with FINRA.
