Michael P. Larsen is chief operating officer of ORIX Real Estate Capital (OREC), the combined company of Hunt Real Estate Capital, RED Capital Group and Lancaster Pollard.
Previously, Mr. Larsen was chief financial officer (CFO) at Hunt, where he was responsible for the firm’s finance, accounting and reporting functions. In addition, he was tasked with coordinating new business development initiatives and capital transactions, and was a member of the executive management team and investment committee.
Prior to joining Hunt, he was CFO of Centerline Capital Group, a publicly traded mortgage banking and investment management company that Hunt acquired in 2013. In that role, he was responsible for accounting and reporting for over 120 public and private funds and operating entities, as well as managing finance and capital markets activities. His previous roles at Centerline included treasurer and director of corporate finance. He managed a wide variety of capital markets executions, including management of corporate term loans, warehouse and aggregation facilities, collateralized loan obligation (CLO)/collateralized debt obligation (CDO) securitizations, preferred equity and tender option bond financings. In addition, he was responsible for the management and restructuring of a $2.8 billion bond portfolio and has managed numerous corporate acquisitions and restructurings.
Previously, he was responsible for completing the underwriting and deal structuring of over $800 million in affordable equity investments and multifamily loans made by Related Capital Company and Charter Mac. He started his career at Arthur Andersen in the real estate and structured finance practices.
In 2011, Mr. Larsen was named one of Real Estate Forum’s “Forty under Forty” to watch. He earned an MBA from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Pennsylvania. He has been a participant in the Real Estate Roundtable’s TPAC and RECPAC committees and is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA).
